The capital and the largest city of Thailand, Bangkok is one of the top South-east Asian cities as well as a world's foremost tourist destination. Also known as Krung Thep in Thai, Bangkok is situated in the central region of the country, on the low-flat delta of the Choa Phraya River.
Bangkok was founded in 1782 when King Rama I of the King Rama I of the Chakri Dynasty made it as the capital of the country. The city has been now transformed into the political, economical, and education center of the region. Additionally, Bangkok serves as the headquarters for many of the country's leading financial institutions and banks. Bangkok International Airport is regarded as the major gateway to the whole of Thailand.
Bangkok's attractions are a blend of historic and contemporary. Everything from palaces, temples, museums, and monuments to zoo, parks, and library are included in the city's landmarks.
Palaces
The Grand Palace is not only the prominent of the shrines but also a great landmark of the city. Located in a huge compound on the Na Phra Lan Road, the palace boasts of a host of buildings, each of which are noted for their intricate architectural designs. The centerpiece of the palace is Wat Phra Kaeo, a shrine housing the Emerald Buddha, which is considered the most revered image of Lord Buddha in the country. Also, located within the precincts of the palace are the Royal Thai Decorations and Coin Pavilion. The pavilion has on its display some exotic coins and interesting monetary exchange used in the country since the 11th century AD.

The palace's highlights include more than 80 rooms, ante-rooms, and halls, apart from terraces and verandahs. Additionally, seen here is Royal Carriage Museum whose specialty is 13 royal horse-drawn carriages, which was once used during the rule of King Rama V. On the eastern wing of the palace is the Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall, which is now the Support Museum, with a selection of handicraft items.
Other popular palaces in the area are Chitraladarahotarn Palace, Ladawan Palace, and Suan Pakkad Palace.
Temples
It is estimated that there are more than Buddhist wats or temples in the region and few among them are Wat Ratchabophit, Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn), Wat Traimit (Temple of the Golden Buddha), Wat Sa Ket (The Golden Mount), and Wat Mahathat (Temple of the Great Relic.) Apart from Buddhist temples, the city is also home to a number of other shrines including Wat Ratchapradit, Wat Suwannaram, and Wat Thepthidaram. Each of the shrines found here is unique and has its own specialties.
Museums
No visit to Bangkok is complete without taking a tour to the city's interesting museums such as the National Museums, displaying a substantial number of artifacts dating back to the Neolithic periods; Royal Barges Museums, which displays barges that were once used during the royal occasions; the National Gallery Museum, exhibiting both traditional and contemporary works; the Geological Museum, with minerals and rocks of the old ages; and Philatelic Museum, boasting of Thai and foreign stamps of the old ages.

Take a Vacation to Thailand
By: Wolfgang Jaegel
Thailand, officially the Kingdom of Thailand, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world, strategically located in the heart of South-East Asia. Bordering Myanmar to the north and west, Combodia to the east, Laos to the north-east, and Malaysia to the south, this stupendous destination is well-known for its breathtaking islands, incredible beaches, ancient as well as historic Buddhist wats, interesting museums and art galleries, rich cultural heritage, lively nightlife, and above all, the presence of amicable Thai people. Thailand also holds the distinction of being the only nation in South-East Asia that has never been colonized.
Occupying an area of more than 500,000 square kilometers, Thailand has been geographically classified into four different regions such as the mountainous North, the fertile Central Plains, the semi-arid plateau of the Northeast, and the peninsula south. Likewise, by region wise, the country is divided into six distinct areas such as the Central Thailand, North Thailand, North East Thailand, South Thailand, South East Thailand, and West Thailand.
Each of these areas comes with a host of mind boggling attractions. Located on the central plains of the Chao Phraya River as well as the Meklong River Valley, Central Thailand is sometimes acknowledged as 'the Rice Bowl of the Country,' since it is the most fertile region in the country. As a tourist spot, this area contains a host of attractions that are of historical significance.
Central region of the country is dominated by Bangkok, with its mind blowing palaces, beautiful wats, hundreds of museums, and expansive shopping areas. Highlights of this region also cover Ayutthaya, which once served as the capital of the country, and now featuring attractions such as the Bang Sai Royal Arts and Crafts Center with traditional Thai handicraft items, Bang Pa In Summer Palace, and Ayutthaya Town; Saraburi, whose focal point is the Phra Buddha Bat Woramahavihan Temple with a rock that is believed to have the Buddha's footprint; Lopburi, which was an important settlement during the reign of the Khmer empire in the tenth century.
Suphanburi, boasting of one of the oldest national parks in the park, namely, the Khao Yai National Park; Nakorn Pathom, with attractions such as Phra Pathom Chedi - the largest of its kind in the world, and Floating Market; Kanchanaburi, which is home to Death Railway, Raft Trips and Houseboats, and Three Pagodas Pass; Petchaburi, with landmarks like Phra Nakorn Khiri, Khao Luang Caves, and Cha Am; Prachuap Khiri Khan, whose prime attractions are Hua Hin - a beachside resort, and Khao Sam Roi Yod National Park - one of the most enchanting parks in the nation.
North Thailand is regarded as the country's cultural heart. Among the points of interest in this area are Chiang Rai, with attractions such as Chiang Saen, a fourteenth century town, and Mai Sai, which is on the Burmese border; Kamphaeng Phet, whose centerpiece is the Old City that dates back to the time of the kingdom of Sukhothai during the 13th century; Lamphun, with a highly revered shrine, namely, Wat Phra That Hariphunchai; Sukhothai, which is homes to attractions such as Sukhothai Historical Park and Sri Satchanalai with an incredible elephant temple.
When comes to the Southern Thailand, this area is bestowed with some magnificent as well as excellent beach resorts of international standards. Perhaps the greatest of all beach resorts in the region is Phuket, with an international airport and more than half dozen beaches.
Popular destinations in Southern Thailand also include Samui Island, whose highlights, among many others, are Grandfather and Grandmother Stones and Angthong National Marine Park; Krabi, which is much favored for its breathtaking landscape consisting of dazzling white sandy beaches, magnificent coves and bays, and fantastic limestone cliffs; and Phi Phi Islands. Other places of interest in Southern Thailand are hot springs that are found nearby Ranong town, and Victoria Point, where you can spot a number of casino centers.
Above all, Thailand provides tourists visiting the country with a continuum of facilities in order to indulge in an array of activities such as hiking, trekking, sightseeing, swimming, rafting, deep sea fishing, and much more. In order to cater to the growing number of tourists in the country, Thailand comes with a number of accommodation options from upscale hotels to apartments and villas that are mostly replete with facilities that a world-class resort renders.

Nana Plaza Bangkok - Thailand Shock Value
By: Steven Walters
While you can spend weeks in Thailand without ever seeing a prostitute there are some areas of the City of Angels that are designed with nothing more in mind than the sex tourist. There are also some other places that tend to draw Thai girls who are looking for involvement with a farang - Khao San Road immediately comes to mind. Today's post will focus on the largest of the pay4play entertainment areas in Bangkok known as Nana Plaza.
Nana Entertainment Plaza (or NEP) began 25 years ago when several bars on Soi 14-Soi 16 were forced to close indefinitely because of construction on Sukhumvit Road. In mid 1982 the Rosemarys (1&2) , The Three Roses and The Rainbow Bar all moved into Nana Plaza which was formerly your normal run of the Thai strip mall and parking area. Since that time it has grown to almost 40 bars packed into the central court area.
For almost 2 decades now Nana has been the center of naughty nightlife in Bangkok. It does see some competition from Soi Cowboy area bars, but Nana Plaza is the top of the heap when it comes to A-Go-Go bars, with stages and shows throughout the complex. Nana is famous for it's Go-Go bars where you can find scads of scantily clothes Thai girls gyrating on stage and around shiny poles, all meant to excite and titillate the variety of visitors that come just for that purpose. Nana is also famous for the katoey or ladyboy bars in the area. Many are the man who hasn't understood the difference between the lovely katoeys in Nana Plaza and been handed a large surprise later.
The Plaza does seem to fluctuate in popularity from year to year with the expatriates and sexpatriates visiting Thailand. One year you can go there and find the area packed to capacity and another year will see NEP almost empty. 2007 was a slow year and 2008 looks to be the same with many of the bars reporting their take to be down 20-30% from normal. Some of this is due to the strength of the Thai baht which is affecting all areas of tourism in Thailand. Other reasons mentioned are the declining upkeep of the clubs, the rising price of the girls and the poor attitude of many of the staff and girls. Another hit is coming in the form of a smoking ban in all restaurants and bars in Thailand which is supposed to take effect February 11th, 2008. It will be interesting to see if this ban is actually enforced.
The first time visitor to Nana Plaza should be prepared for a surreal experience with the area looking like a neon lit circus midway in full swing and music pumping from the various bars surrounding the Plaza. Bible thumping missionaries, prostitutes, western sexpats, camera wielding Japanese tourists and curious tourist young and old fill the area making it a great place to sip a beer and watch the diversity of humanity in all its forms. No matter how far and wide you travel you are unlikely to see another place even remotely like it.
With dozens of bars, brightly flashing neon, hundreds of girls and all the sights, smells and sounds of Nana Plaza I have only scratched the surface of what Nana Plaza is. Go and see for yourself, you'll be amazed and possibly shocked, but it will be different than any other experience of your life.

Holidays - Thailand, an Introduction
By: Liam
With its breathtaking natural beauty, exotic temples, unparalleled hospitality and cuisine it’s no surprise that Thailand draws in more tourists that any other Southeast Asian country.
Thailand’s popularity owes a lot to its geographic size and the sheer breadth of opportunity’s that this can offer.
The northern region of the country is very mountainous, ripe with thick forests. It is here that nomadic hill-tribe communities coexist with main stream society and travellers.
Thailand’s second largest city, Chiang Mai is an excellent starting point for exploring the north, with elephant treks proving particularly popular. The city itself was built in 1296 and is dotted with beautiful ancient temples that are still in use today.
The South, known as the Kra Peninsula consists of hilly rainforests outlined by 1,500 miles of exotic white beaches. It is here that you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, lapped by warm, turquoise waters; Thailand’s costal resorts are the ultimate in tropical paradise.
In between these two regions lie the fertile, rice growing, central plains. The main attraction here is the country’s ever expanding capital - Bangkok.
In short, Bangkok is a chaotic, almost carnal city, in which it is impossible to get bored. Even though the city does suffer from considerable pollution and over crowding and has become considerably westernised, it has still managed to retain its true Asian flavour whilst easily being one of Asia’s most exciting cities.
There are all manner of activities going on throughout the city, 24 hours a day, with Khao San road proving considerably popular over recent years.
The vibrant road has been described as “a short road that has the longest dream in the world.” With its cheap accommodation, lively bars, large variety of cuisine, market stalls offering a wide spectrum of goods - it’s a road that, like the rest of Bangkok and Thailand easily lives up to its reputation.

By: michael hood
When you plan your holiday to Thailand, you will want to experience some of the culture. The first place you stop at should be the Chiang Mai Culture Centre. You can see a traditional tribal and folk show, and intriguing displays about the northern culture. The National Museum also exhibits all the culture of Thailand. The rooftop is fascinating as well. You will learn about the culture and the history of the area. The Tribal Museum is down the road and has many beautiful exhibits. The exhibits of the hill tribes are amazing to see. You will learn many interesting things about Thailand by visiting these two attractions.
While deciding about the other things to do when planning your holidays to Thailand, you should include a trip to the zoo. You will see the Pandas as well as African and Asian animals. Then there is the Art Museum. The exhibits are fascinating to see and read about while learning about the type of artworks that are custom in Thailand. After a few indoor activities, you might enjoy a day outdoors at the National Park. You will see birds, plants and some smaller creatures. The waterfalls are beautiful and the hiking trails are enjoyable and easy to walk.
Another place to plan to see is the waterfalls called Namtok Huai Kaew located by the zoo. Then you can take a trip to the Doi Pui Tribal Village. The village is a true Hmong village that has all the older traditions and a beautiful view of Doi Inthanon. The Royal Winter Palace is another spectacular place to see. It is a palace on the mountain with a beautiful garden adorning the grounds. If you visit from December to February, you will not be allowed inside because the Royal family will be there.
Holidays to Thailand are about culture and what better way to experience the culture than with a Khantoke Dinner. The dinner consists of many different dishes, which are a northern tradition. They have culture dances and other shows during the meals, which are courtesy of the hillside tribes. It is a real treat to visit Thailand and see how they live and celebrate different holidays. The Hmong New Year is a spectacular tradition and if you can travel during that time, you will see beautiful costumes and enjoy a cultural experience like you never have before.
If your holidays to Thailand are going to include some shopping, you will want to visit Night Bazaar. You will find souvenirs and handmade items. The Night Bazaar does not open until six at night. You can find just about anything you want. The fabrics are fascinating and reasonable priced. You can enjoy a great vacation to Thailand and see how everyone lives and how the tribes live. The culture is amazing to see and learning more about the culture is exciting. You will enjoy a week or longer in Thailand experiencing the customs.

Thailand (Heart Of Asia) Holidays
By: Travelhouseuk
HEART OF ASIA
One of the world's most popular cuisines. Beautiful beaches and islands. Friendly, charming people.Warm weather all year round.Cheap prices for most things.Colourful, enchanting temples. An exotic culture preserved through the ages in a country that has never been colonised.Where are we talking about? Thailand, of course!
WHY THAILAND
You can travel to Thailand, if you want to experience lovely smiles and gentleness of Thai people and scenic & cultural treasures of Thai land. Thailand certainly is the “land of smiles,” which can make you smile, too. It’s really is enamoring and exotic country, known for its inviting people, culture, scenery, cuisine, and overall lifestyle.
A FREQUENT CHOICE IN INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL
Located in the heart of Asia, Thailand has been captivating foreign visitors for decades. Previous visitors return year after year and as the word spreads, first-time visitors come flooding in. The number of foreign visitors to Thailand continues to increase and year after year, records are broken as international visitors flock to this fascinating country.
VACATIONS, MADE MEMORABLE ONES
Arguably the most exotic destination in South East Asia, Thailand offers travelers and holidaymakers a huge range of vacation possibilities. It doesn't matter whether you're a budget traveler wanting to explore a foreign land on a tight budget, or a well-heeled traveler who wants to be pampered and experience the very best, Thailand has something for you.It is still quite possible to find a pristine stretch of beautiful white sand beach that you can have all to yourself. Lazing away the days on a hammock under a palm tree on a mile long beach, without anyone else in sight, swaying in the breeze under a cloudless sky as the waves gently break against the soft white sand.Such an experience can still be had. Welcome to Thailand!
MAKE INFORMED DECISIONS
This page could largely be separated into two separate sections. The first part gives general information about travelling in Thailand while the second part goes into detail about some of the places to visit and some of my feelings about them and experiences there.
Bangkok
Phuket
Ko Samui
Ko Samet
Pattaya
Hua Hin
Isaan
Historic Places
Ko Chang
LEGAL LENGTH FOR YOUR STAY IN THAILAND
Visitors from most Western countries to Thailand get 30 days permission to enter Thailand upon arrival. This is not a visa per se. If you really like Thailand you can exit the country and re-enter immediately thus getting another 30 days. You cannot do this indefinitely and after spending 90 days in Thailand in a 180 day period you cannot return for 90 days, unless you apply for a visa at a Thai embassy or consulate outside of the country first. (There is more on the whole visa issue in the living and working section.) Holders of South Korean, Brazilian and Peruvian passports get 90 days permission. A lot of developing countries get permission to enter for a shorter period of time and visitors from some countries may have to apply in advance for a visa. You can apply in advance for a two month tourist visa which can actually be extended in the country for another 30 days at any Immigration office. The extension costs 1,900 baht.I believe that you may be able to get a multiple entry tourist visa although I personally believe that strictly for tourism purposes, three months is plenty.
LANDING IN THAILAND
Most people arriving in Thailand fly into Suwannaphum international airport in Bangkok. Your first time in Thailand, which may be your first time in Asia, can be more than a little confusing. You are more than likely jumping off the plane after a fairly lengthy trip and probably want to get to your hotel as soon as possible.
ACCOMMODATION
No matter what your budget, you can find something to suit. Thailand and indeed Bangkok has a huge range of places to stay. Whether you want the opulence of the Oriental Hotel, the filth of a Khao Sarn Road backpacker hole or somewhere in between, you will be able to find it in Bangkok. And right throughout Thailand, you will be able to find something to suit your needs, at least most of the time in most places.Bangkok's top end hotels continue to rate extremely highly. The Oriental Hotel, The Dusit Thani, The Peninsula and The Shangri-La are often mentioned when you hear the top hotels in the world being talked about. These are five star hotels in every sense and should suit the most demanding of travelers Throughout Thailand, you have all of the big international hotel chains like Marriot, Sheraton, Regent, Hyatt represented. You also have some very good Thai hotel chains like Amari. And then you have got a lot of stand alone hotels. At the lower end of the range you have guesthouses. I gather that camping grounds are available in some places but having seen one snake show too many, I think I'll give that one a miss, thank you.Of the beaches and islands in Thailand, the most popular spots like Pattaya, Phuket and Ko Samui are oozing with a variety of accommodation options. But this is not always the case at some of the more off the beaten track type places. It should come as no surprise that the further off the beaten track you get, generally the harder it is to find quality accommodation. Even in some of the islands the quality of accommodation is not always that good - and sometimes the prices, while cheap by international standards, can be expensive by local Thai standards. Places like Ko Samet and Ko Chang are classic examples where, in my personal opinion, accommodation prices really are higher than they should be.
Khao San Road If you're traveling on a budget then Khao San Road is actually extremely well located for anyone visiting Bangkok as it is walking distance to the river and the most interesting and historically significant parts of the city. The must see Grand Palace is about a mile or s away, easily walk able, even in Bangkok's oppressive heat. Thailand is not an expensive country to travel through and if you are on a real budget, you can do just fine. Let's look at the cost of accommodation in Bangkok first. A room in the top end hotels tends to go for 5,000 baht or more a night. The very best spots, like the Oriental may even go for twice this. As I mentioned earlier, hotels in Bangkok really are excellent and the top end places are just fabulous. My pick is the Sukhothai which has a wonderful combination of Thai style with modern convenience. It is worth just going for a wander through as it really is that nice! As Bangkok can be quite difficult to get around due to the dreadful traffic conditions and the fact that the skytrain and underground only cover a small part of the city, one needs to think carefully about the area where one chooses to stay. The most popular areas are Sukhumvit Road, Silom Road, the Siam Square / Pratunam area, Banglampoo and the river The prices of ccommodation in Phuket and Ko Samui are much the same as in Bangkok. These are now big international beach resorts with many fabulous places to stay and as such the prices reflect what people are prepared to pay for them. On the other hand, Pattaya and Chiang Mai both have high quality accommodation available at prices which simply do not exist - at least what you get for that money - in Bangkok. This is one reason to visit Pattaya and Chiang Mai - you get very good value for money on your accommodation.
GETTING AROUND THAILAND
TRAVEL BY AIR
Thai Airways is the main domestic airline and airfares for flights within Thailand are fairly reasonably priced, the schedules are good with lots of flights to the most popular destinations. Further, the planes are generally in good condition. Thai Airways flies to most parts of the country, but not quite all. The notable exception of where Thai does not fly is the tropical paradise of Ko Samui. There is only one airline which flies between Ko Samui and Bangkok and that is Bangkok Airways who I believe own the airport at Samui. The fare to fly from Bangkok to Ko Samui on Bangkok Airways is more expensive than the fare on Thai to fly from Bangkok to Phuket, something which many people question, with some feeling that Bangkok Airways really stings you when you fly between Bangkok and Ko Samui. Bangkok Airways also flies to some neighbouring countries as well as operating domestic flights within Thailand, but it is the route to Ko Samui for which they are most famous. Bangkok Airways has tried to reposition themselves and now markets themselves as Asia's boutique carrier. .
TRAVEL BY CAR
Hiring cars or even a big bike is one way to get around Thailand. The quality of the roads in Thailand is generally pretty good. Car rental is fairly cheap in Thailand which is a little surprising given that the cost of buying a car in Thailand is much dearer than in the West. Generally, driving in provincial Thailand is easy, the drivers are less aggressive, there is much less traffic - and the further you get from Bangkok, the less traffic and congestion you find. However, wherever you go, signs are generally in Thai only. In a few places, and Pattaya is one exception, some road signs are in Thai. Fortunately street signs are in both Thai and English nationwide, something which I have been extremely impressed with. Petrol in Thailand is reasonably priced and as at March 2007, the price is around 26 baht a litre for the highest grade, 95 octane petrol.
HIGH-LOW SEASONS, THERE’S NONE SO SERIOUS DIVISIONS:
The tourist high season runs from around late November through to mid April. At certain times, particularly Christmas, New Year, the Chinese New Year and Songkran the most popular beaches and islands can be extremely busy to the point that getting accommodation can become a bit of a problem. Hotels and even some guesthouses hike their prices - and people are willing to pay it. So if you are travelling over any of these periods it pays to book well in advance. The Songkran period really marks the end of the tourism high season for the year. There are a number of other holidays throughout the year and on some of these holidays nightlife areas and bars and discos can be closed - and the sale of alcohol is outlawed. Some bars slip the boys in brown a bit of cash so they can remain open. Generally speaking it is the Buddhist holidays and December 5th, the birthday of HM The King.

Chiang Mai Thailand – 10 things you have to see and do
By: Andy Burrows
The former capital of what was once the Lanna Kingdom, Chiang Mai is now the laid-back, northern capital of Thailand. A well-preserved city, complete with a moat and restored portions of the old wall, this city ushers its visitors to a nostalgic past with cobblestone streets, sprawling markets and a variety of handicrafts for which the northern region has become famous.
Wat Phratat Doi Suthep
Dating to the 14th century, Wat Doi Suthep is one of the most esteemed in all of Thailand. Overlooking the Old City from the summit of the 3,500 foot Suthep Mountain, this temple completes any visit to Chiang Mai. A flight of 300 stairs leads to the chedi and marble courtyard, with a lift also in operation. The views of the city are a must-see.
A trip to Mae Sa
Many tourists hear about the waterfall and elephant farm located at Mae Sa and hire a tuk-tuk or red car to transport them there. The drive is only 30 minutes long and there's much more to see than many people know, with a dog show, monkey show, orchid nursery and snake farm all in the area. In all probability, there's more than you can do in a single day and there's something for everybody in the family.
Doi Inthanon National Park
If you're interested in camping, you can't beat the refreshing environment of Doi Inthanon, which is part of a national park centred on this tallest peak in all of Thailand. It measures in at 8,415 feet and is the home to unique plants and wildlife that you won't find elsewhere. After spending some time in the city, it makes for a fresh and much cooler retreat.
Chiang Mai Night Bazaar
The Chiang Mai Night Bazaar, running the length of Chang Klan road, has gained a great reputation in the international community. Shoppers come here for the bargaining, a bite to eat and of course, to shop all night. Items for sale run the gamut, from knock-off designer goods to silverware and valuable antiques. The market is open every night until midnight.
Chiang Mai Zoo
Two of Chiang Mai's most prominent celebrities aren't even human, nor are they Thai. They're two pandas that have been loaned to the Chiang Mai Zoo by China. These two creatures headline the more than 6,000 animals on display at the zoo, where you can also camp and enjoy fantastic views of the city from its location at the base of Suthep Mountain.
Thai massage and spas
Thai massage is well-known all around the world, and legitimate massage parlours are spread across the Old City. The price and quality are quite variable, but you can usually trust your instincts. The all-inclusive spas are a great place to spend an afternoon with the possibility of indulging in a whole repertoire of beautification treatments and detox programmes as well as high-quality massage.
The Old City
The old moat is one of Chiang Mai's most outstanding physical features; having remained for 700 years, it's still in use today. The Old City walls have been restored in places and form a stunning complement to the moat. Temples are everywhere—each with their own story—and some of the more noteworthy include Wat Chiang Mai, Wat Phrasingh and Wat Chedi Luang. All of this can easily be taken in via a walking or biking tour, though there's more to see than you'll be able to fit in a single day.
Courses and training
Courses are popular in Chiang Mai, and many visitors enrol in one of the many offerings which include Thai cooking, kick boxing (Muay Thai) and Thai massage. Most classes have programmes for all skill levels and for any length of time, and one-day cooking courses are perhaps the most laid-back instruction of all. Participants leave with a full belly and a book full of new recipes.
Trekking
Trekking is a quintessential part of a holiday in Chiang Mai and these back-wood expeditions are a wonderful way to become acquainted with the less commercial aspects of the region. Guides the city will help you choose the best package based on level of difficulty and the amount of time you'd like to spend. Guided daytrips spend a majority of time shuttling you around to key attractions in the mountains with only minimal hiking, while the overnight expeditions will accommodate you in a hill tribe village and often include bamboo rafting and elephant riding.
Adventure sports
Chiang Mai is home to several adventure sport caterers, and whether you're seeking intense or laid-back thrills, you'll find an agency that can help you make the connection. White-water rafters head out to Mae Tang River, which is 90 minutes away; rock climbing and bungee jumping are both on the list too, along with mountain biking and go-karting.

You can halt in any of the resorts for overnight that lay very close to this calm-serene beach, which no other beaches in Phuket can be a rival for Railay Beach.
Excursion to Watt ham Seua : One of the largest temples in Krabi and the name signify Tiger Cave Temple. The thing which draws attention to this temple to the various tourists is due to the Buddha's footprint.
Shell Fossil Cemetery : Millions of years ago, Ban Laem Pho Cape was a vast freshwater marsh which were crowded with small snails, the residual of which led to a fossilized composite. This in turn has now grown up to 16 inch thick.
These are the few top vacation destination in Krabi where you can seek for peaceful atmosphere, away from all trouble, just to relax to the very extend of relaxation.

The Sights of Bangkok in Thailand
by: Clint Leung
One of the most popular destinations in Asia to visit over recent years has been Thailand. This of course has also coincided with the booming popularity of Thai cuisine around the world. Bangkok, the capital city of Thailand, is the main entry point where the vast majority of tourists to Thailand will use.
Bangkok is a very interesting city because in addition to the usual modern buildings of offices, hotels and shopping centers, there are also about 400 exotic Thai temples that seem to stick out among the urban landscape. There are Thai citizens on the streets dressed in modern business clothing as well as Buddhist monks in saffron robes. Yet this is what part of Thailand is. The traditional mixed in with the modern. In fact, it’s the traditional attractions that make Thailand so magical. The temples are sights that one just cannot see in the western world. They are like objects that popped out of an Asian fairy tale.
Like many other large Asian cities, Bangkok is congested with traffic, people and pollution. In fact, the air can be bad enough that there are locals wearing surgical masks in the streets. With an average annual temperature of 28 degrees Celsius or 83 degrees Fahrenheit, it can be somewhat uncomfortable outside for some tourists, especially those from northern climates. Also beware that there will be people on the streets who will try to hustle tourists and direct them to their own businesses and tours. But unlike places in the Caribbean, Thais are polite and not aggressive people. For example, once upon arrival at the international airport, there will be people within the terminal including the ones at the booths who will be offering taxi transportation to your hotel. Although these are legit, they will charge a premium compared to the taxis waiting outside the terminal. There is a similar situation at the hotels. The taxis waiting right outside the main hotel entrances do seem to quote more than those waiting on the side streets just further down. The three-wheeled ‘tuk tuk’ vehicles also vary a lot so it may be wise to ask for quotes from a few drivers rather than taking the first one you see. The tuk tuks are a fun ride by the way so they should be experienced at least once while in Bangkok. The city also has various public buses and river taxis which are long boats used on the river canal system. A nice way to spend some time is to take a ride on one of these river taxis to cruise the canals which some refer to as the ‘Venice of the East’.
The Grand Palace is probably the most visited attraction in Bangkok. This complex is surrounded by walls built in 1783 and contains government offices, royal residences monuments and the Emerald Buddha Chapel. The Royal Chapel which contains the Emerald Buddha is the monarch’s private chapel. The Buddha itself is actually a one piece jade sitting on top of a golden altar. It’s not a large Buddha but it is very special. Apparently, they change the Buddha’s clothing which is also made of gold on a seasonal basis. There are numerous monuments on the grounds that are dedicated to past monarchs. Walls with large mythological scenes are displayed throughout. The buildings and monuments within the Grand Palace have some very striking colors including golds and greens. Gold color is used quite a lot and the distinctively curved Thai roofs on the buildings are very detailed. Equally stunning are some of the interiors of these buildings with their magnificent rooms and halls used for different ceremonies and events. Some of these halls have special royal altars.
One temple not to miss is Wat Pho which is the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. It features a giant Buddha lying on its side. Even the soles of this Buddha’s feet have very intricately detailed designs. Other nice temples to see are Wat Arun (Temple of Dawn) and Wat Benchamabophit (Marble Temple). The Wat Pho temple has traditional Thai massage services which are very popular among tourists. Other temples such as Wat Mahathat and Wat Parinayok also have Thai massages available. The Royal Barges or long boats which are used during ceremonies on the river are also nice to see. The details put into decorating these boats are just remarkable.
For wildlife enthusiasts, there’s the Pasteur Institute’s Snake Farm where poisonous snakes are fed daily and visitors can watch handlers milk cobras for their venom. There is also the world’s largest Crocodile Farm. The national sport of Thai kickboxing can be seen at two different stadiums in Bangkok. Both the Ratchadamnoen and Lumphini stadiums feature events throughout the week on different days. Thai theatre and traditional dance are very interesting to watch as cultural entertainment. These can be seen at theatres as well as some of the top hotels in the city.
Bangkok has some good shopping opportunities especially for jewelry, handicrafts and textiles including silks as well as cottons. As in other locations in Asia, vendors in the streets will expect some bargaining of prices where the retail stores have fixed prices. Just like in Hong Kong, Bangkok has many custom tailors who can make suits, shirts and dresses for clients within 24 hours. Some will even delivery the finished clothing to your hotel free of charge.
There are some general guidelines of etiquette in Thailand that should be followed by all visitors. The Thai royal family is revered in this country so no outsider should ever make any even slightly negative remarks about the country’s monarchy. Temples should not be entered unless one is covered with long pants or skirts. Shorts and shoulderless tops are not permitted in temples. Footwear is always removed prior to entering any temple. Images and statues of Buddha, even postcards, are considered sacred in Thailand so one should never climb on one or do anything that will show disrespect. Public displays of affection between men and women are also frowned upon. Of course this seems to be a complete contradiction to Bangkok’s famous red light and adult entertainment districts such as Patpong. But this is yet another example of the contrast that’s found in Thailand.
The attractions in Bangkok warrant a few days stay in the city before heading out to other parts of Thailand where there’s much less pollution and more beautiful natural scenery. Bangkok has good air connections with other Asian destinations as well so it can easily be fit into a larger tour of Asia.

Bangkok Attractions - Places And Activities You Musn't Miss
by: Aimee C. Barnard
Going to Bangkok for your holidays? Here are 10 must see Bangkok attractions and must do activities in the city of of angels.
1. Get on a river taxi and see the beauty of the Chao Praya River.
A very different view of Bangkok I’ve got to say. If you’re the
adventurer, you can just jump on one at any of its terminals. Just be fast enough as the boats ( water taxis ) hardly stop. Otherwise, book a tour from one of the hotels by the river such as The Royal Orchid Sheraton, Shangri la or The Peninsula.
2. Rub elbows with the locals and tourists at the Weekend market, Chatuchak/Jatujak
It can get very hot in here but it’s an excellent place to see the wares of Thailand. You might even find a good buy along the way. Thai ( and not so Thai ) goods available from antique furniture to fake jeans.
3.See the wonders of the Grand Palace
All hail the Queen of England, but her Buckingham Palace is nothing compared to this glorious work of art in the middle of Bangkok.
4.Have a Thai massage in Wat Po and if you have the time, take the 10-day Thai Massage course
If you don’t get a Thai massage in Thailand then you haven’t been to Thailand at all. Experience this somewhat bone breaking yet de-stressing technique right from where it originated. Or if that’s a bit too much, go for the foot massage instead.
5.Have A Relaxing Spa At The Banyan
A relaxing spa retreat right in the middle of the city. You can choose from a 1 hour facial treatment or if you have time to spare, have a 7 hour Banyan package and spoil yourself mad.
6.Visit the Floating Market
It may just be another commercial avenue for tourists to spend their dollars, but if you go to the floating market early in the morning when the “river-folk” are actually buying and selling goods mindless of the tourists, then it’s a very good cultural experience.
7.Haggle at the night markets
Sure many goods are over-priced but if you know how to haggle and how much you’re willing to pay for what you’re buying, this can be very fun. If you go very early, just when the shops are opening, you might even get the prices real low ( first buyers luck!)
8.Shop Till You Drop
Shopping is the Thai’s national past time and wherever you are in Bangkok, you will never run out of shops to explore. You’ll find practically everything in this City Of Angels and at very reasonable prices to boot. For reasonable priced clothes, go to Pratunum Market; for little trinkets, go to Yaowarat in Chinatown; for bargain software, go to Panthip plaza, and for designer clothes, try Central Plaza or The Emporium Shopping Center.
9.Try Thai cuisine
You’ve had Thai food in your country and I’m sure it’s good; but Thai food cooked in Thailand, is in my opinion, just heavenly! Just be sure to know the words, Mai Pet ( My Pet ). This means not spicy in Thai, but you’ll probably be wondering how hot the spicy dishes are after you’ve bit into your first chilli!
10.See An Elephant Show
I know they should be in the wild and all that…but if I were an elephant, this humiliation of dancing in front of amused humans is much better than the alternative which is walking on the hot streets of Bangkok waiting for tourists to buy me a piece of sugar cane for food. And I have to say, this is one show I enjoy. Watch out for the baby elephants! They’re a real treat!
