Pattaya is an enchanting destination, located along a pictorial bay on the East Coast of the Gulf of Thailand, about 150 km southeast of Bangkok, in Chon Buri province. Once a typical fishing village, Pattaya underwent a great revival when a troop of American Military, consisting of about 100 servicemen, who joined the Vietnam War came here for relaxation on 29 April 1961.
Soon, Pattaya became a premier vacation spot of Thailand. The destination has now evolved into a favorite holiday beach resort of Southeast Asia, and boasts of everything that is required for a luxurious vacation, such as, more than 400 assorted hotels and resorts, city-like dining options, excellent shopping facilities, and intoxicating nightlife. Additionally, this incredible beach resort is only second to Bangkok in high rise structures.
Due to its proximity to Bangkok, Pattaya is a popular weekend getaway for the city's dwellers. It is estimated that this exotic beach destination welcomes more than five million tourists every year. Further, inspired by the tranquility as well as the excellent options it render, many Americans, Europeans, and people from East Asian destinations, including professionals, families, and retired people, have now started to settle down here.
The focal point of Pattaya is undoubtedly its unspoilt beach, categorized into north, south, and central. Stretching from the Dolphin roundabout near Dusit Resort, North Pattaya, otherwise known as Pattaya Neau, is perhaps the most peaceful among the beaches in the area. Located south of the North Pattaya is the Central Pattaya beach, a perfect spot for fun and recreation. This beach area is packed with boutique shops, restaurants, bars, and coffee shops. Nearby Central Pattaya is South Pattaya, which attracts many fun-loving travelers. With a variety bars, discotheques, and nightclubs, the area becomes energetic during night. In short, this destination is for adults only.
Located south of Pattaya beach is Jomitien Beach, which is another thriving beach in the area. Dong Tan is also a much famed beach in Pattaya. All of the beaches in the area provide options to enjoy an array of fun-filled as well as recreational activities.
For instance, if you are a diving enthusiast, Pattaya has diving shops to offer PADI and NAUI certificate courses and that too at affordable rates. For expert divers, the Ko Rin and Ko Man Wichai offer great options. Windsurfing is another great activity that can be enjoyed here. Jomtien Beach is regarded as a center of windsurfing, the evidence for which is the board competitions that are conducted by the Pattaya Windsurf Club. Likewise, the southern and northern parts of Pattaya beach and Jomtien beach are considered an excellent spot for water skiing.
But, the activities that are available at Pattaya are not just confined to water sport activities. For example, Pattaya, together with Chon Buri, offer great facilities for golf lovers, with a number of golf courses designed by world-famous golfers. Similarly, with two alleys of international standards, Pattaya offers excellent choices for activities like bowling. Some great options are available for game lovers, such as paintball, with an exclusive ground in order to play the game. Those visiting the paintball ground can also take a visit to small racing ground nearby, which is especially designed for go-kart racing. A myriad of other activities can also be enjoyed in Pattaya such as traditional Thai massage, taking Thai cooking classes, and learning Thai culture and language.
However, Pattaya provides more than beach, island tours, and nightlife. In addition to water sport activities and shopping, the city provides a feast of attractions for sightseers and nature lovers. Among which, most significant are:
- Million Years Stone Park and Pattaya Crocodile Farm, boasting of beautiful rock gardens, more than 200 years old bonsai trees, and a great collection of animal species such as albino bears and crocodiles
- Elephant Village, where display of training methods as well as elephant rides are available
- Funny Land Amusement Park, which is a great area for both grown-ups and children, with specialties like Swing Vikings Ship, Samba Tower, Slalom Roller Caster, Family Swinger, Demolition Derby, Musical Carousel and a Monorail
- Siriporn Orchid Farm, where you can see an astounding array of orchids such as catteleyas, vandas, daedrovium, escosanda and pompadours
- The Bottle Art Museum, which has on display a great selection of over 300 glass bottles consisting of replicas of churches, palaces, and temples
- Mini Siam, a miniature city with replicas of about 80 sacred places as well as most prominent historical sites in the country
With these umpteen attractions, it is no wonder why people flock here throughout the year. Hence, the growing number of tourists has led to a tremendous increase in the number of hotels and resorts. Pattaya has accommodation to suit every taste and pocket. Luxury lovers can take advantage of upscale hotels and resorts coupled with top-end facilities and comforts.
Many of the hotels and resorts in the area offer excellent packages inclusive of 3 or 4 night accommodation, dining, and facilities to enjoy some of the activities in the area. Some even customize this package according to your requirements.

Things To See And Do In Phuket Are Truly Endless
By: Wolfgang Jaegel
Phuket is perhaps the most populous as well as the most visited destinations in Thailand. Phuket is not only the largest island in the country but also the only island province in the country. Awe-inspiring scenery, breathtaking tropical sunsets, palm-lined white sandy beaches, limestone cliffs, serene broad bays, lush green forested areas, mesmerizing blue lagoons, superb mansions and buildings reflecting Sino-Portuguese architecture, outstanding hospitality, and fantastic accommodations - all sum up the island of Phuket. Hence, it is not a wonder why Phuket has been bestowed with the titles 'the Pearl of the South,' and 'the Pearl of the Andaman.'
Covering an area of about 540 square kilometers and located about 850 km south of Bangkok, Phuket is nestled in the tropical region off the west coastline of the southern part of the country in the Indian Ocean and the Andaman Sea. With more than 35 small islands, Phuket has the mystical Phang-nga to the north, which is connected by two bridges, namely, Sarasin and Thep Krasattri. The other three sides of the island have been bounded by the Andaman Sea.
While your stay at Phuket, you can spend a day here by engaging in more than 100 activities. No matter you want to enjoy golf in golf courses of international standards, enjoy world-class scuba diving in the Andaman Sea, or just want to explore the scenic vistas of tropical forests and surroundings, Phuket has superb choices for all. In other words, you just name an activity; it would be readily available in the island.
For beach bums and water sports lovers, Phuket provides a feast of attractions, with an array of fabulous beaches such as Patong Beach, one of the busiest areas with largest assortment of bars and restaurants; Kamala Beach, a quaint area suitable for a relaxing vacation; Karon Beaches, one of the longest of its kind in the island; Kata Beach, consisting of two beaches such as Kata Yai and Kata Noi; Nai Harn Beach, whose area is dominated by the Samnak Song Nai Harn Monastery; and Surin Beach, which is one of the great places in the island to savor sumptuous seafood dishes.
The Andaman Sea is regarded as one of the world's most magnificent bodies of water, and visiting Phuket would be probably the most excellent way to enjoy its crystal-like clear waters. A variety of water sport activities can be enjoyed here such as sport fishing, sea canoeing, kayaking, parasailing, dinner cruises, and much more. Even superb options are available for learning scuba diving.
Beyond wonderful beaches and clear, sparkling seas, Phuket offers much more to people touring the destination. For those interested in traditional sight seeing options, then Phuket offers a continuum of museums such as the Phuket Sea Shell Museum, which has on display a large variety of sea shells collected from across the world, apart from ancient fossils and unique golden pearl collections; and the Talang National Museum, which provides deep insight into the interesting history of the region.
Options available for sightseers also include a myriad of temples and monasteries, among which one of the most popular is Wat Chalong, dedicated to two highly revered monks, Luang Pho Chaem and Luang Pho Chuang. Your Phuket sightseeing would not be complete without taking a tour to Old Phuket town lined with Sino-Portuguese mansions and funky boutiques.
If you are an animal lover, then you should definitely visit destinations like Phuket Aquarium, with more than 30 tanks of saltwater as well as freshwater specialties; Phuket Monkey School, where you can spectacle monkey shows; Snake Farm near the Simon Cabaret; the Phuket Zoo, which is home to a variety of animal and bird species; and Phuket Butterfly Farm. Likewise, for flower and plant lovers, a visit to the Phuket Orchid Garden and Thai Village would be a great experience. Further, if your choice is different and looking for something unique, then head to destinations such as Phuket FantaSea, which is a great choice for fun lovers, and Simon Cabaret Shows.
Attractions in Phuket also cover Chalong Big Buddha, Khao Praew Thaew National Park, Sirinath National Park, Khao Rang, and Phromthep offering magnificent views of the sunset. Above all, fabulous is the nightlife in Phuket, with a range of nightclubs, karaokes, and restaurants and bars in some of the hotspots of the island.
With these scores of attractions, Phuket has something for everyone. In other words, no matter you are honeymooner, newly weds, parent vacation with your children, or 95-year-olds, Phuket caters to every taste, budget, and age.

Tour Krabi For A Relaxing Vacation
By: Wolfgang Jaegel
Located roughly 800 kilometers south of Bangkok and 65 kilometers northeast of Phuket, Krabi is one of the Thailand's most enchanting destinations. Sprawling over an area of about 4705 square kilometers, Krabi is a province, placed on the Strait of Malacca, and is bordered by Surathani and Phang Nga to the north, the Andaman Sea to the south and the west, and Nakorn Si Thammarat and Trang provinces to the east.
With its unbeatable natural scenery, mysterious caves, lush green forested hills, rubber and palm plantations, unspoilt beaches, and well-organized infrastructure system, Krabi has now become one of the most sought after destinations in the world.
Many of the visitors, especially the Scandivians, touring Thailand spend majority of their times in Krabi. During the winter as well as Christmas, many westerners including Europeans flock here to escape from the extremely cold climate of their home country, since Krabi maintains its mild sunny weather even during the coldest months.
Krabi boasts of some of the best beaches in Thailand. No matter you want to relax, or to engage in a number of fun-filled as well as adventure activities, or just to take a stroll to savor the incredibility of the surroundings, Krabi's beaches render all that a visitor would really want to have.
Most popular among the beaches in the destination are Ao Nang Beach, which is a paradise for enjoying such water sport activities as scuba diving, trekking, and kayaking; Railay Beach, which serves as an excellent spot for wannabee rock climbers.
Pra Nang Beach, which is a great destination for snorkeling and canoeing; Klong Muang Beach - a perfect destination to take a moonlight stroll as well as to enjoy excellent dining; and Nopparat Thara Beach, a scenic beach fringed with casuarina trees, which is popular among picnickers. In deed, with these incredible beaches, Krabi is a mecca of water sport activities. Apart from these, Krabi is home to more than 200 islands, Phi Phi Don Island, Phi Phi Lay Island, Koh Taleng Beng, Koh Lanta Yai, and Mu Koh Hah being the prominent.
However, attractions in Krabi are not just restricted to its beaches and islands. But, before discussing about other attractions in the region, it is important that you should have clear idea on each district of the region. The province of Krabi is made up of eight amphoes or districts including Amphoe Mueang, Khao Phanom, Ko Lanta, Nuea Khlong, Ao Luk, Lam Thap, Khlong Thom, and Plai Phraya, each of which comes with an array of sights.
Amphoe Mueang is home to such incredible attractions as Khao Khanap Nam, 100 meters high hill that rise from the water; Tham Sua, otherwise known as Tiger Cave; Tham Sadet, which is a gorgeous cave with unique stalagmites and stalactites; and Fossil Shell Beach.
Most popular among the attractions in Amphoe Khao Phanom is Kho Phanom Bencha National Park, occupying an area of about 50 square kilometers and covering some regions of Amphoe Ao Luk, Amphoe Khao Phanom, and Amphoe Muang. Some of the highlights of the park are Namtok Huai To, Namtok Huai Sa-de, and Namtok Khlong Haeng.
Perhaps the first attraction that comes into your mind when you hear about Amphoe Ko Lanta is Mu Ko Lanta National Park, which consists of several islands. Ko Lanta Yai is the park's main island. Included in the attractions of Amphoe Ao Luk is Than Bokkhorani National Park, which is about 45 kilometers from the downtown Krabi. Few among the attractions in Amphoe Khlong Thorn are Wat Khlong Thorn Museum, Namtok Hin Phoeng, Thung Teao, and Namtok Ron.
In short, no matter you are a history buff, spiritual traveler, sightseer, or adventure lover, Krabi has something for everyone. Understanding the tremendous increase in the number of travelers year after year, a large number of accommodation options have been developed here, of which many of them are five star and three star facilities.
An array of options is also available for budget conscious travelers. Just browse through the internet and you can easily find a number of choices, from which you select an option according to your taste and budget. Many of the hotels provide facilities to make bookings online. All you have to do is to inform them your likes and preferences, and rest they will take care.

Festive Thailand
By: Richard Greaves
Festivals in Thailand are either Buddhist, Chinese, animist, or associated with the monarchy. Buddhist and Chinese festivals are lunar and generally fall on a full moon, animist festivals such as Songkran or Loi Krathong can be solar or lunar, while royal holidays fall on special historical days such as the founding of the current Chakri dynasty or the birthdays of the reigning monarchs.
The most deeply spiritual of the Thai holidays is Visakha Bucha held on a full moon night in May. It commemorates the date on which the Buddha was born, attained enlightenment, and died.
Visakha Bucha day is marked with sermons and alms-giving culminating in an evening candlelit procession known as wien thien in which celebrants circle the temple three times in honour of the triple gem of Buddhism - the Buddha, the Dharma (teachings), and the Sangha (community of monks).
Songkran, the most vigorous of Thailand's festivals, was the official Thai New Year until 1941. Formerly tied to the movement of the sun, modern Songkran takes place from 13-15th April.
Songkran began as a ceremonial bathing of Buddha images as part of a new year's spring cleaning ritual. However, it has degenerated over the years into a free-for-all water fight in which the streets are filled with revellers armed with water guns, jars and buckets.
Though Songkran is celebrated nationwide, it's probably done with most gusto in Bangkok’s tourist centre of Khaosan Road and in the northern capital of Chiangmai.
The southern island of Phuket with its large Chinese population is the scene of the Phuket Vegetarian Festival held during the ninth lunar month each year. The event lasts ten days and other than participants observing a vegetarian diet, involves ceremonies at Chinese shrines and temples along with firewalking and other acts of self-mutilations carried out by devotees known as Ma Song. These Ma Song are in ecstatic trances and oblivious to pain as they clamber up ladders with bladed rungs, walk barefoot over hot coals, and plunge skewers through their cheeks.
The event Phuket Vegetarian Festival dates back to 1825. At that time, many immigrant Chinese worked in Phuket's tin mines. A visiting Chinese opera troupe cured their sickness with a vegetarian diet. This much impressed the local population who started the vegetarian festival.
The afternoon before the festival, celebrants raise a high pole (the Go Teng pole) at each temple. This is to invite the gods to descend. Then at midnight, they adorn the pole with nine lanterns to mark the opening of the festival.
Over the next ten days, ceremonies such as invocation of the gods Lam Tao and Pak Tao, processions of images of the deities, and the feats of the Ma Song. The festival ends with merit making ceremonies at the temples and the send-off of the gods.
Thailand is a land rich in culture and tradition and the best and most moving way to experience the delights of this eastern kingdom is to attend one of the many festivals and ceremonies that adorn the calendar.

A Different Types Of Accommodation Choices In Phuket
By: Wolfgang Jaegel
The largest island in Thailand, Phuket is South-East Asia's one of the most charming destinations, situated in the sparkling waters of the Andaman Sea. Located about 850 kilometers south of Bangkok by air and just an hour's flying from Bangkok, Phuket boasts of a stunning landscape comprising awe-inspiring scenery, blue seas, stretches of white sandy beaches, and beautiful sunsets.
Hence, it is not a wonder why Phuket is sometimes referred to as 'the Pearl of the Andaman.' When comes to attractions, Phuket presents a feast of attractions for visitors touring the destination, such as, Phuket Aquarium, with some rare species of fishes; Phuket Butterfly Farm, boasting of a vivid range of butterflies and other insects; Phuket Zoo, where monkey, elephant and crocodile shows are conducted; wats including Wat Chalong, Wat Kun Chi and Phuket Town Shrine; and Thalang National Museum, containing some unique art and artifacts.
However, despite this amazing range of attractions, many of the tourists come here due to its gorgeous beaches including Patong Beach, Kata - Karon Beach, Kamala Beach, and Bang Tao Beach, just few to name. Each of these beaches has its own significance, and is considered a mecca for enjoying water sport activities, such as swimming, deep sea fishing, paragliding, sailing, and much more. Whether you are beach bums, art or nature lovers, bird or wild life lovers, devotees, or honeymooners or newly weds, Phuket, in deed, has everything for a relaxing and memorable vacation.
It is estimated that millions of tourists, especially westerners, visit here per year. Hence, in order to cater to the growing needs of tourists, Phuket has an astounding range of accommodation choices, depending upon the preferences and interests of tourists. For instance, if you are a tourist who has come here for short stay, then some of the best choices are hotels and resorts. If you are budget conscious, you can opt for such options as boutique and bungalow resorts attached with all necessary facilities like swimming pool and recreational features, apart from inexpensive accommodations.
For beach lovers, some excellent beach resorts are available in destinations, many of which are just few meters away from some of the most popular beaches in the area. Mostly, they are complete with luxuriously appointed rooms, Thai style gardens, lush gardens, swimming pools, most modern spa facilities, and golf courses.
Al though hotels and resorts make available all that is required to make your vacation enjoyable, it may sometimes does not appeal a vacationer seeking more space, privacy, and freedom. For such vacationers, no other options would be better than private villas. They are also an excellent choice for holidaymakers who are here for a long stay. In contrast to a hotel or resort room whose average size is only of about 40 square meters, a villa may be usually in the form of house with size varying from 100 to 900 square meters.
From single studio and apartment style villas to five or six room villas, you can choose from a variety of astounding villas in Phuket. Some of the most sophisticated villas in Phuket come with three or more bedrooms, kitchen designed in European style and equipped with dishwasher and microwave oven, separate dining and living areas, excellent entertainment facilities coupled with satellite TV and CD and DVDs, and hi-speed internet connections.
Additionally, mostly they are complete with facilities such as indoor as well as outdoor Jacuzzis, barbeque areas, and private swimming pools. There are also some villa rentals, offering the services of maids, cooks, chauffeurs, and baby sitters. Above all, as in the case of beach resorts, many of the villa rentals are within close proximity to some of the top beaches in the area.
Let it be any type of accommodation choice or providers, majority of them provide superb arrangements in order to help you indulge in a variety of activities in the destination. For example, some providers organize canoe trips to explore the Phang Nga Bay caves. Likewise, special river rafting trips are organized for adventurous. Many of them also provide excellent facilities to enjoy such activities as elephant trekking, touring wildlife centers, and jungle walking. Further, for weary travelers seeking rejuvenation and relaxation, some of them offer superb spa services covering body massages, herbal treatments, mud baths, and beauty treatments.
A myriad of professional villa service providers are now there to provide you the best services in connection with Phuket villa rentals. Many of them even offer options to allow for a hassle-free booking online.

Koh Chang Island Resort In Exotic Thailand
By: Chris Chew
Koh Chang is an exotic island resort in Thailand which is obscured by its more famous counterparts, the island resorts of Phuket and Koh Samui. Koh Chang is the third largest island in Thailand behind Phuket and Koh Samui respectively.
However, the obscurity of this island is waning as more and more people are getting to know about this island's tourism potential and are making a beeline this relatively quieter and unspoilt Thai island resort.
With more and more domestic and foreign tourists visiting to Koh Chang for their holiday vacation, developers and hotel owners are rushing in to tap this market potential. For example, the Amari Emerald Cove Resort, the first 5-star resort hotel in Koh Chang opened its doors just a few years ago and since then, there are many such projects springing on the main island.
The White Sand Beach area is a family oriented area and quite a number of assorted beach resorts and hotels can be found here along with some luxurious beach resorts such as Chang Buri Resort and Spa and Koh Chang Kacha Resort and Spa. There are also simple beach hut shacks such as the Rock Sand Bungalow and the evergreen Bamboo Bungalow for the budget conscious tourists.
Located on the western side of the island resort is the Hat Tha Nam or Lonely Beach which is also very popular with low budget travelers and the backpacking tourists whereas Kai Bae beach is more popular with scuba divers.
The Thai government has announced that Koh Chang will developed into the next premium beach resort tourist destination and vowed that they will not commit the same mistakes they made in Pattaya, Phuket and Koh Samui where resort development was not meticulously regulated and are infrastructural nightmares.
In Koh Chang however, the Thai authorities have imposed strict building regulations and directives for beach front developments such as limiting all man-made structures to a maximum height of three storeys. To control indiscriminate developments, the government declared 85% of island as a national park and thus any developments are disallowed in these areas.
Unlike Phuket and Koh Samui with their cacophony of tourism related shops, noisy entertainment outlets and sleazy clubs, Koh Chang is just the opposite and is tranquil, quiet and delightful. Tourists have almost nothing to do besides enjoying water sports like snorkeling, scuba diving, fishing or just simply soaking up the sun by the beaches.
There are 52 islands which make up Koh Chang National Marine Park and thus potential for the scuba diving industry is excellent. Already, there are more than 20 dive operators in the resort island offering scuba diving excursions, conducting certification lessons and renting diving related equipment.
The best time to go scuba diving in Koh Chang is in the beginning of the year when its pristine water is calm and underwater visibility is at its best. Non divers can also take catamarans to go island hopping cruises.
For tourists and beach lovers who prefer laid back beaches and unspoilt nature, do visit Koh Chang now before it is morphed into another commercialized beach destination in Thailand. Will Koh Chang island resort become the next Phuket or Koh Samui? Only time can provide the answer.
This exotic tourist attraction in Thailand is accessible by ferry from Trat on Eastern Thailand and the peak season to frolic in Koh Chang's beautiful beaches is from December to April.

Unique Thailand
By: Richard Greaves
Thailand has exploded onto the world tourist stage in the last 20 years and it's easy to see why. Superb natural scenery from the mountains of the north to the beaches of the south, marvellous temples and ancient ruins, a fabulous piquant cuisine and a relaxed and friendly people make Thailand the ideal Asia destination for visitors of all ages. However, for most visitors, the most enchanting sight is that of the Thai temple.
Bangkok is home to over 400 temples from the ancient to the modern. These fantastic creations with their multilayered roofs and kaleidoscopic colours amaze and delight all visitors. Somerset Maugham said they were examples of the 'the playful boldness of man'. One of Bangkok’s most interesting temples is Wat Po, known as the Temple of the Reclining Buddha.
Wat Po is on most tourist itineraries owing to its massive reclining Buddha. But a wander through the rest of the temple is extremely rewarding.
Wat Po in fact served as Bangkok's first university. In the 19th century, King Rama 3 enlarged the temple compound and added stone tablets illustrating Thai traditional medicine. He also created the hermit's garden which is populated with statues of hermits in various contortions which are based on yoga. At the end of the temple compound are the massage pavilions which offer traditional Thai massages and also courses teaching massage.
The northern capital of Chiang Mai, though a fraction of the size of Bangkok, has almost as many temples. Most are northern style structures showing a strong Burmese influence. Stone lions stand guard at the gate and writhing nagas or celestial serpents form the balustrades to stairways.
Chiangmai's most eminent temple is considered to be Wat Phra Singh which stands in the old walled city. A temple was first built on this site in 1345 and the original stupa or pagoda still stands.
The viharn or assembly hall houses the Phra Singh image and is notable for its mural paintings depicting traditional life in northern Thailand in the 19th century.
On the southern island of Phuket in the Andaman Sea stands the temple of Wat Chalong, a place of much history and legend. Known officially as Wat Chaitararam, the temple is located in the Chalong district in the north of Phuket.
The main pagoda at Wat Chalong contains a splinter of bone that is said to have come from the Buddha. The chedi is adorned with murals and Buddha images.
Wat Chalong played a dramatic role in the 19th century when Chinese labourers rioted over being denied opium. The abbot of the temple, Luang Poh Cham, rallied the locals to stand and fight the rioting Chinese and eventually save the day.
These are just three of the thousands of fascinating Buddhist temples that grace Thailand. A visit to any temple is not only a feast for the eyes but also the heart and soul.

Thailand – Asia’s prime tourist spot
By: jacob47 schultz47
Provision of discounts in Thailand’s hotels.
Thailand is considered as an Asian Tiger. This is because, in the late 70s’, this country emerged as an economic power in the region. In that time, employment raised, GDP raised, tourism raised, so did the hotel industry. Till now, it is continuing to do the same. In the last couple of years, hotel business in Thailand took new tern and started offering exclusive customer services. However, no matter what types of services and features, Thailand’s hotels offer, the major services include hotel discount services and the reservation services. The offers however, differ from hotel to hotel.
There are different types of hotels spread all over Thailand. There are diverse categories of hotels as well. For example some are family hotels, some beachfront hotels, some shopping area based hotels, some long stay hotels and some are even budget hotels. Some of the hotels in Thailand are activity based; for example some focuses on sightseeing, some in cruise, some in spa and entertainment etc. The common thing about all these hotels is, they all focus largely on discount services.
Over the years, high hotel discount sourcing opened the doors for hotel businesses of Thailand to grow even more. Now, Thailand hotels offer a number of excellent discount and reservation services to the customers.
Provision of discounts and reservation services are some of the major factors for hotel businesses to boost up. Thailand is often known as the "Land of Smile", and it is obvious that people would want to have a tour to this wonderful country. Fortunately, hotel discount services in Thailand are quite attractive which helped the hotel businesses to rise at a new level.
The discount services nevertheless may come in packages. For example the package might vary by number of guests or by number of nights spend in the hotels. In addition, tourists get one type of discount services while business people get another type. And obviously, frequent tourists get healthy discount services, whenever they reach Thailand. The level of discount services however demands of seasons. For instance, during off-seasons, tourists enjoy around 30% to 40% discount. Additionally, there are some hotels in Bangkok and Phuket, which charge low rates and offer high discounts as a strategy for attracting low budget tourists. Discounts are too offered depending on the number of days within which booking is placed.
In today's mechanized world, the methods of reservations have also changed. Wide use of the Internet promoted thousands of travel websites to be opened, which offers free reservation services for the Thailand hotels. In addition, special discounts are offered to the customers using these websites in regular base. Other than that, reservations for Thailand hotels can also be made through the common ways like telephone and postal services.
Since the late 1990s’, Thailand’s tourism industry faced huge competition from other Asian countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and India. To pace up in the competition, Thailand’s hotels expanded discount services and reservation services. It is expected, in the coming years, competition will be even higher as China and Vietnam have already join the race. It will be interesting to see, how the Thailand hotel industry responds.

Land & Property Law in Thailand
By: Wolfgang Jaegel
Thailand is an incredible country much famed for its serenity and rich culture. In fact, the country is much popular among the tourists, and is now the number one tourist spot in South-East Asia. With its mind blowing scenery, stupendous beaches, idyllic tropical islands, and a myriad of attractions covering palaces, ancient shrines, interesting museums, historic monuments, and places of cultural significance, Thailand has been drawing holidaymakers from across the world per year.
Of which many of the people, especially Europeans and Americans, settle down here permanently, inspired by the incredibility of the place. Some westerns have even chosen certain destinations in Thailand such as Koh Samui, Pattaya, and Phuket, to spend their retirement life.
Factors such as exceptional low prices and excellent investment potential have also lured large number of people to invest in the country's property market. All these have led to increased demand for property in Thailand. Property market in Thailand is highly active, with a number of options, ranging from land and houses to condominiums, villas, and serviced apartments. Discussed further in this article are laws as well as procedures involved in connection with owning a property in Thailand.
The laws with regard to owning a property in the country is quite confusing. A foreigner cannot easily own a property in Thailand. In other words, Thai law strictly prohibits a foreigner to own a freehold land in the country. However, there are certain loopholes in the law regarding this issue. A foreigner can own a land or property in the country through a number of ways such as land leases, company ownership, investments, and above all, through Thai spouse.
Land Leases - Although Thai law prohibits land ownership rights to people, foreigners are allowed to hold 100% interest in a land lease in the country. In other words, land lease is one of the simplest as well as straightforward options for a foreigner to acquire a property in Thailand. According to the Thai lease law, a maximum of 30-year lease year is provided, and that too with the option to renew the lease for an additional period of 30 years.
Additionally, lands for commercial as well as industrial purposes could be leased up to a period of 50 years, with options for further extension of lease. All kinds of land lease must be registered with the Land Development. However, it is not required to register leases up to three years. It has been made mandatory to register any kind of lease renewal that has been agreed upon with the land owners at the local land office.
Company Ownership - Registered companies in Thailand with majority Thai ownership could buy land in Thailand. In general, only Thai majority companies are allowed to own land in the country. However, in certain instances, the Board of Investment (BOI) allows a foreign registered company registered in the country to own a land for a short period of time.
Thai Spouse - A Thai wife of a foreigner is allowed to own a land or property in the country in her own name. This option is a very good way to own to a property in Thailand if there is not any marital problem between the couples.
However, it has been made mandatory for the couples to sign declarations with the Land Department. This in turn is to specify that the funds used are the property of the Thai spouse. But, it may sometimes become a problem in case of divorce. In such a situation, an expertly prepared prenuptial agreement may prove helpful for the non-Thai spouse.
Investment - As per the Thai property law, a foreigner is allowed to purchase a limited amount of land, on the basis of investment of about 40 million bahts for five consecutive years, provided if the land is for residential purpose.
Despite any other aforesaid options, one of the best ways to purchase a property in Thailand is via the purchase of a condominium unit. The Thai government does not impose any kind of restrictions on foreigners to own a condo unit in Pattaya, except for some requirements to be met under the Condominium Act (1979), such as bringing in 100% of funds for the purchase of condo unit in foreign currency and recording of it by a Thai bank on a Foreign Exchange Transaction Form (FETF), which in turn is considered an evidence to submit it to the Land Department.
A number of firms are now in the scenario to help you deal with the legal procedures in connection with the owning of a land or property in the country. They undertake a plethora of services such as purchase as well as sale agreement, asset purchase transactions, transfer and lien registrations, title searches, and industrial estates.

Located in the sparkling waters of the Andaman Sea and about 850 kilometers south of Bangkok, Phuket is the only island in the country with the status of a province.
Phuket is also the largest island in Thailand, occupying an area of about 570 square kilometers. There are more than 33 islands in Phuket, and the administrative center of the province is
Phuket Town, which in turn is regarded as the economic hub of the island. With splendid shorelines, beautiful coves and bays, mysterious caves, secluded islands, lush mountains, and much more, this island destination, in deed, is a not to miss attraction in the country.
However, much of the glory of the island lies in its stupendous beaches, which among many others, are Bang Tao, Ao Sehn, Chalong Bay, Freedom Beach, Kalim Beach, Kamala Beach, Karon and Kata Beach, Kata Noi Beach, Laem Singh Beach, Le Phang, Nai Ton, Pansea Beach, Patong, and Yanoi Beach.
All of the beaches in the area serve as an excellent base in order to indulge in a number of activities such as diving, snorkeling, sailing, deep sea fishing, canoeing, and swimming. Equally fabulous is attractions in Phuket such as Thalang National Museum, Wat Pra Tong, Wat Pra Nahng Sahng, and Wat Chalong. The National Museum in Bangkok, Thailand
By: Conor Simone
For people interested in getting a good feel for the history of Thailand, the museum is very much a ‘must see’ destination. Initially established as a palace by King Rama V, the building underwent a number of transformations before becoming what is now called the National Museum in 1887. Housing a definitive presentation of Thai history, the museum has a variety of different sections, each focusing on the history of specific topics (Thai musical instruments, masks, armaments, Thai clothing, etc.). The displays cover Thailand’s ‘prehistory’, move through the Lanna, Sukhothai, and Ayutthaya periods, and bring you right up to the modern Thai kingdom. Certainly worth a visit is the chapel (Phra Thinung Phutthaisawan) which features ‘Phra Singh’ Buddha images and the ‘Throne room’ which caters for numerous special exhibitions put on by the museum. The Tamnak Daeng (or ‘Red House’) is also worth a look. In fact, as with other world-class museums, the National Museum is a place visitors can spend many hours just wandering through exhibitions and looking at displays.
Suan Pakkad Palace Museum, the former palace of Prince Chumbhot and his wife Mom Rajawongse Pantip, displays the important role royalty played and still plays in Thai everyday life. Converted into a museum in 1952, the eight houses, built in traditional Thai style, are linked by corridors, thus forming a single, unified structure. The highlight is the display of the ancient Ban Chiang collection which dates back to 3600 BC to 200 AD and puts Ban Chiang on par with other major ancient world civilisations. Online guide to Bangkok culture & art
More lively royal exhibits, this time water based, can be admired at the Royal Barge Museum. This is where the Royal Thai barges are stored when not being used in one of the elaborate ceremonies on the nearby Chao Phraya River. Visitors can get a glimpse of how the barges are used during one of these exciting events. Measuring up to 50 metres in length, the old style barges make for quite an impressive sight.
Back among the hustle and bustle of the central shopping malls and department stores is the tranquil oasis of Jim Thompsons House, tucked away down a little lane alongside one of Bangkok's few remaining canals. Guide to Bangkok galleries and museums This old-style teak house was the former residence of Jim Thompson, who single handedly regenerated the Thai silk trade before later disappering in the Malysian Highlands under mysterious circumstances. Visitors can admire fine Asian art and artefacts and take a break in the coffee shop, set in the lush gardens.
More hair-raising history can be seen at the Bangkok Corrections Museum on Maha Chai road. This museum is housed in a former prison and gruesomely displays how the ancient penal system, based on retribution and sever punishment, was implemented. Life-sized wax figures can be seen upstairs in grisly execution scenes, while shopping fans will love the high quality furniture and handicrafts for sale in blocks 2 and 3, crafted by prisoners from prisons around Thailand.
Pirated goods are not only widely for sale on the streets and in the shopping centres of Bangkok. Now there's a whole museum dedicated to the ingeniuty of modern-day counterfeiters. Established in 1989, the Museum of Counterfeit Goods exhibits pirated wares seized in raids, such as electronics, drugs, households appliances, car parts, clothing, leather goods and footwear.
Although one day (or night!) in Bangkok is not enough time to delve into the intricacies of a place with such a wealth of culture and range of activities, it is possible to see its best bits in a day. So many tourists overlook the fact that this remarkable city offers a great deal in culture and activity that few bother to spend more than a day or two passing through. If you would rather get to the island and mountains, here’s what we suggest you get to in just one day.

Living & Enjoy Your Life In Phuket
By: Wolfgang Jaegel
There is a lot of differences between living in the East and West. Numerous issues have to be considered, like cost of living, weather, people, culture, and so on. Big distinction in either side makes alterations in people's "lifestyle". It is widely accepted that most foreigners visiting Thailand choose Thai way of living.
Every year, there are a huge number of foreigners traveling to Thailand but in the end they decide to settle down here. Thailand has an enormous impact on the big crowd. Anyone visiting Thailand will be left amazed by the diversities they witness in food, shopping and sceneries.
But most of the travelers are attracted towards Phuket than Bangkok. For people who love to lead a simple life there may not be too many better choices than this island in South East Asia. It boasts lush, tropical environment, azure clear water and attractive scenic ocean and beaches. There are recreation options galore in Phuket like sailing, boating, diving, fishing, windsurfing, biking, swimming, diving, golfing and many more.
Life in Phuket has been easy and peaceful. Although it is a small island unlike Bangkok, the people living here take things easy and enjoy life here. There are no pains like traffic jam and large crowds and you can soak up in fresh air. Locals are friendly and sincere, and their lifestyle suits you when most make their lives on a small industry around the ocean like fishing.
Now, the city provides you the most modern facilities including excellent roads, modern hospitals, superb marinas and first grade international schools. Its international airport can be accessed from over a dozen international locations as well as most domestic locations. With a short journey of less than one and a half hours, visitors can connect through Singapore, Malaysia and Bangkok to the rest of the world. Some airlines have scheduled international flights that arrive here directly without touching Singapore, Malaysia and Bangkok.
Plenty of people come here for enjoying their vacations. Usually the travelers, go around to see the beautiful beaches and the tropical climate. Once they get a feel of the lifestyle they will definitely say this place is a heaven. It is the wealthiest province in Thailand. Its wealth allowed the place to provide world class arrangements for you. But looking on the other side of the coin, it has the highest cost of living when compared to any other Thai province. However, it is still very affordable considering western standards and even a modest income from home can allow you to live leisurely here.
Phuket's location in the calm Andaman Sea has attracted foreigners since the olden days. Legal services, business opportunities and plenty of houses, all designed to the specific needs of the ex-pat. If you're thinking about moving to this place, be prepared to face all manner of little discomforts that are bound to happen when East meets West. Houses here are very affordable and provide you good value depending on how close to the beach you want to be.
A totally furnished two bedroom house with air conditioner can be hired for about 8,000 to 14,000 baht a month in the Phuket Town area. It also offers wide variety of different types of cuisine and how much you spend will be based on where you go and the type of food you want to eat. It is an island having decent size and walking from place to place can be taxing. The ideal means of transport is a 125cc motorbike. Motorbike rentals are easily available and cost about 3,000 baht per month, which comprises insurance.
Apartments here are generally priced around 1 million baht for a small studio, while a two bedroom condominium is available from 4 million baht. Drinking is a favorite pastime in Phuket and it will not be a serious issue in your cost of living. A small bottle of local beer at a pub usually costs about 50 baht, while a large bottle is priced at about 80 to 100 baht.
Taking into account all those lifestyle and development, Phuket gives you a perfect dream location for those searching for a relaxed lifestyle in an affordable, peaceful, and tropical paradise.

Why You Should Invest In Thailand Property
By: Daniel Millions
Thailand is quickly developing a reputation as one of the chief vacationing spots out there, and you'll find that the city of Phuket is the gleaming gem in the crown. In terms of being a central place where you can find easy access to just about everything you need.
Whether you are considering a once in a lifetime extended getaway or you travel frequently and are tired of bunking down in the same boring hotels, it is time for you to consider the possibility of buying or renting property in Phuket; many travelers are learning that there is no better way to really absorb the beauty of Thailand than to rent or buy their own place and have it completely at their disposal.
One of the things that you will notice when you start staying in hotels a lot is that the hotel industry on a global level is becoming more standardized. A hotel in New York will often have a great deal in common to a hotel in Asia these days, and while that might be fine for people who are only interested in business or in staying in familiar surroundings, it is quite annoying for someone who is really looking to experience a different culture and lifestyle. If you are interested in really getting the most out of your visit, you'll find that renting or even buying a Phuket residence is the way to go!
If you have to ask why you want to rent or buy a villa in Phuket specifically, then it is fairly clear that you have never been to the city itself. You'll find that you can find diving, golfing, rainforest hikes, cruises and an extremely exciting nightlife, all in one, easy to access location. You'll find that there is a very good reason that this city is known for its hospitality and for its excellent properties, and many people who come here once will come again and again; some of them even decide that they want to retire here or move there permanently.
When you rent or buy a property in Phuket, you'll find that this is a lot cheaper than you might think, especially if you are planning to stay for a while. If you are traveling in a group, you'll find that splitting the cost of the rent or the property will allow you really get your investment out of it; you can come and go as you please and never worry about the hotel that you like being overbooked. When you are looking for smooth sailing all around, you need to buy or rent property in Phuket, so take a look to see how much easier everything could really be for you!
Experienced travelers have experienced painful costly experiences, when they found themselves trapped to pay for a new lavabo or others broken furniture. The only way to avoid this is by using the services of a well established company in Phuket.

Your Personal Haven in the Heart of Bangkok
By: Wolfgang Jaegel
The capital and the largest city of Thailand, Bangkok is one of the top South-east Asian cities as well as a world's foremost tourist destination. Also known as Krung Thep in Thai, Bangkok is situated in the central region of the country, on the low-flat delta of the Choa Phraya River.
Bangkok was founded in 1782 when King Rama I of the King Rama I of the Chakri Dynasty made it as the capital of the country. The city has been now transformed into the political, economical, and education center of the region. Additionally, Bangkok serves as the headquarters for many of the country's leading financial institutions and banks. Bangkok International Airport is regarded as the major gateway to the whole of Thailand.
Bangkok's attractions are a blend of historic and contemporary. Everything from palaces, temples, museums, and monuments to zoo, parks, and library are included in the city's landmarks.
Palaces
The Grand Palace is not only the prominent of the shrines but also a great landmark of the city. Located in a huge compound on the Na Phra Lan Road, the palace boasts of a host of buildings, each of which are noted for their intricate architectural designs. The centerpiece of the palace is Wat Phra Kaeo, a shrine housing the Emerald Buddha, which is considered the most revered image of Lord Buddha in the country. Also, located within the precincts of the palace are the Royal Thai Decorations and Coin Pavilion. The pavilion has on its display some exotic coins and interesting monetary exchange used in the country since the 11th century AD.
Another great palace in the area is Vimanmek Palace, which is credited to be the largest building in the world that is entirely made of golden teak. The palace's highlights include more than 80 rooms, ante-rooms, and halls, apart from terraces and verandahs. Additionally, seen here is Royal Carriage Museum whose specialty is 13 royal horse-drawn carriages, which was once used during the rule of King Rama V. On the eastern wing of the palace is the Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall, which is now the Support Museum, with a selection of handicraft items.
Other popular palaces in the area are Chitraladarahotarn Palace, Ladawan Palace, and Suan Pakkad Palace.
Temples
It is estimated that there are more than Buddhist wats or temples in the region and few among them are Wat Ratchabophit, Wat Arun (Temple of the Dawn), Wat Traimit (Temple of the Golden Buddha), Wat Sa Ket (The Golden Mount), and Wat Mahathat (Temple of the Great Relic.) Apart from Buddhist temples, the city is also home to a number of other shrines including Wat Ratchapradit, Wat Suwannaram, and Wat Thepthidaram.
